The Buffalo Sabres are in their 56th season and have a storied history. The club has 15 players who have been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, and many others who deserve recognition. Over the next few weeks, we will be looking at players in Sabres history by their jersey number, ranking the top three players to wear that particular number.

The top three who wore #4 in team history are all defensemen: Jerry Korab, John van Boxmeer, and Uwe Krupp.

Korab was acquired from Vancouver in 1974 and was a member of the Sabres Cup final club in 1975. He was traded to Los Angeles in 1980 and returned to Buffalo to finish out his career. Van Boxmeer was acquired from Colorado in 1979 for Rene Robert and had three excellent offensive seasons under Scotty Bowman before tailing off in 1983. Krupp played four seasons with Buffalo before being part of the massive deal with the NY Islanders that brought Pat Lafontaine to the Sabres.
