The Buffalo Sabres are in their 56th season and have a storied history. The club has 15 players who have been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, and many others who deserve recognition. Over the next few weeks, we will be looking at players in Sabres history by their jersey number, ranking the top two players to wear that particular number.

The top two who wore #89 in team history are: Alexander Mogilny and Alex Tuch.

Mogilny was a fifth round pick in 1988 after an impressive showing for the Soviet Union at the World Juniors and Olympics in Calgary and famously defected to join the Sabres in 1989. The Hall of Famer holds the single-season scoring record in franchise history with 76 goals in 1993 and compiled 211 goals in six seasons before being traded to Vancouver in 1995. Tuch was acquired from Vegas in November 2021 in the Jack Eichel deal, and in his five seasons with the Sabres, he has scored 36 goals twice and is on the verge of reaching the 30-goal mark this season.
