
Who was the best player to wear #90 to #96 in Sabres history?
The Buffalo Sabres are in their 56th season and have a storied history. The club has 15 players who have been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, and many others who deserve recognition. Over the next few weeks, we will be looking at players in Sabres history by their jersey number, ranking the top two players to wear a number in a particular range.
The top two who wore #90 - 96 in team history are: Ryan O’Reilly and Doug Gilmour.
O’Reilly was acquired from Colorado in 2015 to be a veteran second-line center behind Jack Eichel, and in three seasons, he scored 20 or more goals every year. He was dealt to St. Louis in 2018, and in his first season with the Blues, wins a Stanley Cup and the Conn Smythe Trophy. The Hall-of-Fame Gilmour was acquired from Chicago in March 2000 and in 82 games over two seasons, scored 55 points (10 goals, 45 assists) and played 18 playoff games.
