Team USA had a harrowing time with Norway in their fourth game at the 2025 IIHF World Championships in Herning, Denmark on Wednesday, as they jumped out to a 4-1 first period lead, and extended the lead to 5-1 early in the middle frame, but the underdog Norweigans rallied with four straight to tie it late in regulation before the Americans salvaged a 6-5 victory.
The scoring hero for the US was Buffalo Sabres forward Tage Thompson, who scored unassisted in the first, added to the lead in the second on a setup by Utah’s Clayton Keller, and scored the game-winner on the power play 4:09 into overtime with assists from a pair of Mammoths in Keller and Logan Cooley.
The win moves the US into third place in Group B at 2-1-1.

The Rochester Americans open their best-of-five AHL North second-round series against the Laval Rocket at Blue Cross Arena on Wednesday after a long layoff. The Amerks swept Syracuse in the opening round in three straight, with Devon Levi posting consecutive shutouts, but have been out of action for nearly two weeks.
Laval defeated Cleveland in four games and finished up that series on May 6, so it is likely that both squads will have to shake off some of the rust early on. Rochester will host the first two games on Wednesday and Friday, before the series shifts to Laval for Game 3 next Wednesday, Game 4(if necessary) on Fri, May 23, and Game 5 (if necessary) on Sun. May 25.
