
Sabres prospects selected by Tre Kronor, who host the WJC later this month

Two Buffalo Sabres prospects have been named by Team Sweden to their preliminary roster for the 2024 IIHF World Junior in Gothenburg, Sweden later this month. 2022 top pick Noah Ostlund and 2023 second-rounder Anton Wahlberg were selected as part of a 30-man roster that will be cut down to 25 players later this month.
Ostlund, 19, played the last two seasons with Djurgardens and came over to North America after the SHL season to join Rochester, but did not play in the Calder Cup Playoffs. The young center chose to return home this season and play with Vaxjo, where he has seven points (4 goals, 3 assists) in 17 games. Ostlund played for Sweden at the 2023 World Junior and is expected to be on their top line later this month.
Wahlberg, 18, was selected 39th overall in Nashville, out of the Malmo Redhawks of the SHL, and has seven points (3 goals, 4 assists) in 21 games.
The Sabres now have four players potentially that could play in the World Juniors later this month, as 2022 first-rounder Matthew Savoie and 2023 fifth-rounder Scott Ratzlaff were selected by Hockey Canada for Team Canada's preliminary roster on Tuesday.
