Club now has five players on injured reserve
Buffalo Sabres head coach Don Granato provided an update on the club’s injury status after practice on Monday. Goalie Eric Comrie, forwards Zach Benson and Jack Quinn (LTIR) are all on injured reserve, and on Saturday the club placed defenseman Mattias Samuelsson on IR and called up Ryan Johnson prior to their win in Toronto.
On Monday, the Sabres added to their list of injured by placing forward Brandon Biro on IR. The 25-year-old scored two goals in his first game of the season against Philadelphia on November 1 but suffered an unspecified upper-body injury in the rematch against the Flyers on November 3.
"No specifics and that's why he was on IR,” Granato said. “We're trying to pinpoint specifics with what he is feeling, so I don't have an injury update other than upper body.”
As for Cozens, the young center left the game on Friday after getting bested in a bout by Philadelphia’s Garnet Hathaway and did not play against the Leafs the following night. Granato did not specify the injury, other than to describe it as upper-body, but Cozens did observe practice from the bench on Monday.
"Dylan is progressing very well. We would expect the strong potential to see him in practice a couple of days.” Granato said. “If all goes well, that will be the case, but he's close.”
