The 2024 NHL Trade Deadline is now less than three weeks away, much to the excitement of hockey fans. Soon, we will be seeing a plethora of moves, and the Buffalo Sabres are certainly one club to watch. This is because they are expected to sell off some of their pending UFAs, given their current placement in the NHL standings.

Sabres forward Victor Olofsson is one player who could be dealt. The Sabres have been looking to move him since the offseason. Furthermore, the skilled winger is also looking for a fresh start, as he had this to say to The Buffalo News' Lance Lysowski earlier this week:

"I’ve got to play hockey and right now I’m not doing it. You always have to think about yourself and your career. I’ve always had a great time here, and I love it here, but I’ve got to think about myself obviously. If there’s an opportunity to go somewhere and play, that would be the ideal thing."

Olofsson, 28, has had a tough 2023-24 season. In 35 games, he has four goals to go along with 12 points. He also has not been given many chances to play, as he has played in only five games since the start of January.

Although Olofsson has struggled this season, he could generate some interest. This is because he is on an expiring deal and also had 28 goals and 40 points just last season. As a result, once the big-name scoring wingers are off the board, it is possible that a playoff club could be open to adding him. One team who has been connected to him is the Colorado Avalanche.
