Off The Post Questioning The Sabres Developmental Model Of Devon Levi

The National Hockey League and National Hockey League Players’ Association announced that the NHL 4 Nations Face-Off Tournament will take place between NHL Players from Canada, Finland, Sweden, and the United States in place of the NHL All-Star Festivities next February.

The tournament will consist of a total of seven games played over a nine-day period in venues in the United States and Canada, with each team comprised of 23 players (20 skaters, 3 goalies).

Looking at players from the Buffalo Sabres who could be involved in the tournament, defenseman Rasmus Dahlin is a heavy favorite to be on Sweden’s roster. The 23-year-old blueliner leads the NHL with 13 goals and is in the top 10 in league defensive scoring with 38 points.

Center Tage Thompson will likely be in the mix for the United States. Thompson, 26, who scored 85 goals in the past two seasons and set a career-high 47 goals in 2023 has the versatility to play wing and center.

Wingers Alex Tuch and Jeff Skinner could also possibly be in the mix for Team USA and Team Canada as depth forwards depending on how they perform the remainder of this season and before the rosters are finalized in December 2024.

One potential longshot could be rookie goaltender Devon Levi. In spite of his struggles as a rookie, Canadian goaltending is remarkably thin and the 22-year-old has been on the roster for Canada at the World Junior Championships, World Championships, and the 2022 Olympics in Beijing.
