Ostlund scores for Sweden in their victory over Germany

Sabres Powerless In Loss To Bruins, Jost Waived

The Buffalo Sabres had three of their seven prospects in action on Day #3 of the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden, and 2022 first-rounder Noah Ostlund made the most impact.

The 19-year-old center in his second World Junior for Sweden scored his first goal of the tournament in a 5-0 victory over Germany on Thursday. Ostlund played just over 16 minutes in the contest, with three shots on goal.

Sabres 2023 second-rounder Anton Wahlberg went scoreless in the game, with two shots on goal in 16:14. On the opposite side of the match, seventh-rounder Norwin Panocha played nearly 18 minutes for Germany in the loss and was -2 on the night.

On Friday, as many as six Buffalo prospects will be in action, with Maxim Strbak’s Slovakian squad playing Norway, Jiri Kulich and Czechia facing the United States, and Ostlund/Wahlberg going head-to-head with Team Canada and Sabres 2022 top pick Matthew Savoie.
