Markstrom back and healthy after missing a trio of games, good news for the Flames as they head into their final clashes before the all-star break

Sergei Belski-USA TODAY Sports - Calgary Flames continue the game of musical chairs between the pipes with Dustin Wolf re-assigned to the AHL Wranglers and Jacob Markstrom back and ready for action

Expect to see Jacob Markstrom back in goal when the Calgary Flames play host to the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday.

Top prospect goaltender Dustin Wolf was re-assigned to the AHL Calgary Wranglers on Sunday, having served as backup to Dan Vladar in the trio of games last week while Markstrom was sidelined due to a lower-body injury suffered in practice last Monday.

Markstrom has been a full participant in the past couple of practices, including Saturday’s morning skate prior to Calgary's 3-1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers.

Wolf, who has played in five NHL games this season, was recently selected to the AHL All-Star Game.

Markstrom has been spectacular since the middle of December. Upon returning from a broken finger suffered on Dec. 4, Markstrom strung together a 7-3-0 record, and posted a .937 save percentage in those games.

It is welcome news with the Flames (21-20-5), who have three outings remaining in their six-game homestand and likely must win them all to maintain hopes of making the playoffs.

Vladar won only one of the three games in Markstrom’s absence, but played extremely well while stopping 81 of 89 shots he faced and keeping the Flames in the game despite losing to the Toronto Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers. Vladar has been the subject of trade rumours since last summer and his recent performances most likely improved his stature among those watching him.
