The Calgary Flames may not be done making significant moves this season, according to David Pagnotta of NHL Network. Speaking about the Flames' potential plans, Pagnotta revealed that General Manager Craig Conroy is keeping "phone lines wide open", suggesting that the team could be in for some major trades.
Pagnotta noted that the Flames made some big deals in recent months, but also suggested there could be more to come. He explained, “Craig Conroy’s phone lines are wide open. His door to his office is open."
He mentioned that the Flames are willing to entertain offers for several key players, including forward Nazem Kadri, who has a no-movement clause but might be open to relocating east, closer to Toronto, though not necessarily to the Maple Leafs.
Pagnotta also said that defenseman Rasmus Andersson is another player the Flames are reportedly open to moving. Andersson, who has one year left on his contract with some no-trade protection, could be on his way out if an extension is not reached. This could be Andersson's final season in Calgary, suggested the analyst.
Somewhat surprisingly, Pagnotta reports that the Blues showed interest in MacKenzie Weegar before making their offer sheets to the Oilers and acquiring Dylan Holloway, along with defenseman Philip Broberg. Weegar is another name the Flames are willing to discuss in trade talks.
With multiple players potentially on the trading block, it appears Calgary is contemplating a major shakeup, possibly hinting at a rebuild. That said, Pagnotta's reports run in conflict to what Elliotte Friedman reported about a week ago when he said the Flames have told the players the team is done making moves and likes the quiet of the summer.
If they are willing to listen to offers for core players like Kadri, Andersson, and even Jonathan Huberdeau, it suggests they are open to more significant changes.
