Calgary Flames rookie Rory Kerins collected two assists in the first period, and is one more away from the team's rookie record.

During the first period of the Calgary Flames and Chicago Blackhawks' game, rookie Rory Kerins, making his NHL debut, set up teammate Jakob Pelletier for the game's first goal.

With the assist, Kerins becomes only the second player in franchise history with a point on their first NHL shift, joining Sam Bennett, who was the first on Apr. 11, 2015.

By the end of the first, the Flames held a comfortable 3-1 lead, thanks to two goals from Pelletier, both assisted by Kerins and a lamplighter from Matt Coranato. 

The record for most points by a Flames player in their NHL debut is three, shared by Kent Nilsson (1979), Kevin LaVallee (1980), and Calder Trophy winner Sergei Makarov (1989).
