Jacob Markstrom's return to the Calgary Flames is coming into focus.
Markstrom, who suffered a broken finger on his right (blocker) hand during a Flames practice on Dec. 4, practised with the AHL's Calgary Wranglers on Wednesday.
He was listed as week-to-week, although coach Ryan Huska said at the time, “It’s not as bad as it seemed. Week-to-week, you could see him in one week. It could be shortly there after. It’s not something we expect to be long-term.”
The Flames have one more game on a current road trip, Thursday at the Minnesota Wild, before returning home to face the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday.
In Markstrom's absence the Flames have one win in five outings (1-3-1) with Dan Vladar and Dustin Wolf tending the net.
Markstrom has posted a 6-8-2 record this season with a 2.94 GAA and an .896 save percentage in 16 games. He is eligible to come off the injury list at any time.
