    Doing it for the dads.

The Calgary Flames used the emotional energy of having their fathers — or in the case of a couple of players, brother or grandfather — to stake a four-goal first period and Yegor Sharangovich capped the game by completing his hat trick to give the Flames their 6-2 victory over the Arizona Coyotes Thursday in Tempe, Ariz.

Blake Coleman scored once in a three-point opening period, while Mikael Backlund and Rasmus Andersson added singles.

MacKenzie Weegar, Elias Lindholm and Jonathan Huberdeau all collected two assists, while Jacob Markstrom stopped 33 shots.

The Flames (19-18-5) finish their quick two-game trip Saturday in Las Vegas.

Check back Friday morning for the takeaways.
