Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson is playing for Sweden for the first time in seven years. Let's revisit his career with Tre Kronor.

Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson was born on Oct. 27, 1996, in Malmö, Sweden. At 14, he joined the Malmö Redhawks junior program in the Elit and Allsvenskan leagues after his minor hockey career.

According to his Elite Prospects profile, Andersson first dressed for Tre Kronor/Team Sweden at a U16 tournament in 2011-12. He was a point-per-game player with 11 points in 11 games thanks to two goals and nine assists.

Some of his teammates on that season's squad included Oskar Lindblom, Adrian Kempe, William Nylander, Sebastian Aho (D), Pierre Engvall, Andreas Englund, and Marcus Pettersson, William Lagesson, and Gustav Forsling.

The following year, 2012-13, Andersson played for the U17 team and made his U18 World Junior Championships debut, scoring a single goal in five games. Once again, he teamed with Nylander on the U18 team, which the United States shut out in the quarterfinals.

As Andersson continued to grow within the Redhawks program, advancing to the J20 team and debuting in HockeyAllsvenskan, Sweden's top junior league, he skated again at the U18 World Junior Championships in 2013-14.

That year, he totaled three points in seven games as Sweden again bowed out of the tournament in the semifinals to the United States.

Following that season, Andersson joined the Barrie Colts in the OHL, playing 67 games in North America, getting drafted by the Flames in the second round (53rd overall) in June 2015.

He remained with the Colts, getting promoted to alternate captain. That year, he skated one final time with Team Sweden at the U20 level. Even though Andersson was not selected for the team that skated at the U20 World Junior Championships, he played four games at that level, scoring three goals and four points.

At the start of the 2016-17 season, Andersson would play with the Stockton Heat and make his NHL debut. He has not represented Sweden at international events for the past seven years. He'll pull on a Tre Kronor sweater for the first time in almost a decade at the 4 Nations Face-off
