The 13th annual Canes 5K will take place Sunday, Sept. 13.
The event features a 5K race around Lenovo Center, with prizes for top finishers.
Even though there is a competitive aspect, those interested can still take part without having to race as participants are encouraged to also walk and enjoy the occasion as well.

Registration is open until Aug. 24, although the price will increase after Aug. 10.
Registration costs $70 per entrant, or $80 after Aug. 10, although full-season ticket members can enjoy a discounted rate ($55 and $65).
Registration also includes:
- One (1) ticket to a 2026-27 Canes home game
- Commemorative t-shirt & sticker
- Personalized race bib
- A post-race breakfast, courtesy of US Foods and Lenovo Center staff
- One (1) cold beer, courtesy of RH Barringer (21+ only)
IMPORTANT: Each Canes 5K participant (excluding the Caniac Kids Dash & Full STM participants) will receive one (1) upper-level ticket as part of their registration. There will be a list of predetermined games in the 2026-27 season from which participants can select. Game options will be announced in a post-race email!
There is also a Canes 5K Caniac Kids Dash, which is just a $20 registration fee.
Race Day Schedule
- 7:15 a.m. - Limited packet pick-up, outside, to the left of VIP doors
- 8:15 a.m. - Pre-race kick-off
- 8:25 a.m. - Caniac Kids Dashes
- 8:45 a.m. - Canes 5k presented by UNC Health and assisted by Raleigh Orthopaedic
- 10:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. - Post-race stretch with Stormy, award ceremony, and drawing for raffle prizes
- 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. - Post-race breakfast for all registered participants, compliments of US Foods and Lenovo Center staff. Friends and family who did not register for the race may not receive any food or beverages.
Race Awards and Prizes
Awards and prizes will be presented to the top overall male and female runners and the top male and female runners from each age group. Race winners will be determined by gun time. Age group winners will be determined by chip time, monitored by FS Series.
Overall Winners
- Overall male and female winners will receive a trophy and a Carolina Hurricanes team-signed replica stick
Age Group Winners
The top overall male and female runners from each age group below will receive a trophy. Overall winners from the above category are not eligible for age group awards.
- 19 and under
- 20-29
- 30-39
- 40-49
- 50-59
- 60 and over
The event raises money for the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation.
