
The 2026 IIHF World Championship came to a close on Sunday with Finland defeating Switzerland to take home the gold.
Norway also defeated Canada in the bronze medal match for their first ever IIHF podium placement.

Finland - Gold
Patrik Puistola - 4g, 5pts in 10gp
- Selected by Carolina in third round of the 2019 draft
- Traded to Edmonton Oilers in 2023 for Jesse Puljujarvi
Jesse Puljujarvi - 4g, 9pts in 10gp
- Played part of one season for Hurricanes in 2022-23
Saku Maenalanen - 3g, 5pts in 10gp
- Signed a one-year, two-way contract with Carolina in 2018
- Spent two seasons with the organization
Janne Kuokkanen - 1g, 3pts in 10gp
- Selected by Carolina in the second round of the 2016 draft
- Spent four seasons with the organization
- Traded to New Jersey Devils in 2020 as part of a package for Sami Vatanen
Switzerland - Silver
Nino Niederreiter - 2g, 5pts in 10gp
- Acquired by Hurricanes in 2019 from Minnesota Wild for Victor Rask
- In four seasons in Carolina, Niederreiter had 69 goals and 137 points in 234 games.
