The Canes acquired forwards Mikko Rantanen and Taylor Hall in exchange for Martin Necas and Jack Drury. As if the Carolina Hurricanes haven't had enough troubles as of late, new winger Mikko Rantanen will not play this afternoon against the Utah Hockey Club as the Finn has been ruled out with a lower-body injury. The assumption is that Rantanen was injured by a Brent Burns shot Thursday night in Minnesota. Late in the third period, Burns' shot struck Rantanen in the knee as the forward battled for positioning in front of the Wild net, hobbling the winger. He was not on the ice for Sebastian Aho's 6v5 goal but did take the ice again after that tally, but it was noticeable that he was being hampered by something. Since being traded from Colorado, Rantanen has a goal and two points in six games.
