The Blackhawks have made incredible progress this season, mostly due the the high level of production from their young superstar, Connor Bedard. Through 22 games, Bedard has 13 goals, 18 assists and a +5 rating. However, the team still hasn't found a promising young winger to pair with him, but that could change soon.
Roman Kantserov, 21, who was drafted 44th overall by the Blackhawks in the 2023 NHL Draft, has been on a tear this season in the KHL. In 30 games with Metallurg Magnitogorsk, Kantserov has tallied 19 goals and 14 assists for 33 points. He's currently on pace for the best season ever by a 21-year old in KHL history.
For reference, 21-year old Kirill Kaprizov has 51 points in 57 games for CSKA Moskva during the 2018-19 KHL season. Kantserov is on pace for 63 points in 57 games.
Kantserov's contract with Magnitogorsk ends at the end of this season, so it may not be long until we see him make his NHL debut.
