

Patrick Kane says his rehab from hip-resurfacing surgery is progressing as well, if not better than expected.
The 34-year-old free agent forward told Buffalo, New York based Associated Press sports writer John Wawrow, “It’s just exciting to see progression and just feeling better on the ice. Kane is from Buffalo and he has a home in nearby Hamburg, New York.
Kane told the AP he's been on the ice about 20 times already and he might be ahead of the four-to-six month recovery schedule that originally was projected following the invasive procedure on June 1. https://www.edwinsu.com/hip-resurfacing/. But Kane added he'd prefer not to rush his return from a condition that's dogged him for the past couple of seasons.
Kane says he still has no idea where's he might play next season. For now, he's remaining patient as the opening of NHL training camps approaches.
Kane couldn't help the Rangers get past the first round of the 2023 playoffs.Kane's eight-year, $84 million contract extension, signed with the with the Blackhawks in 2014, ran out at the end of last season. He and Jonathan Toews got identical deals that were announced with with almost regal hoopla at the United Center.
Kane was dealt to the New York Rangers on Feb. 28, just before the 2023 NHL trade deadline. He fell short in helping the Rangers get through a first-round playoff matchup against New Jersey.
