Presumptive No. 1 draft pick kids with TNT panel, including dig at former goon Paul Bissonnette
Connor Bedard has been saying all the right things, even when it's a dig at hockey's favorite goon-turned-TV-commentator, Paul Bissonnette, a.k.a. "Biz."
The presumptive No. 1 pick in the 2023 NHL Draft made an appearance on the "NHL on TNT" pregame show, joining panelists before Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final .
Host Liam McHugh asked Bedard about sitting next to NHL all-time scoring leader Wayne Gretzky. The prospect proved he's as quick with words as he is on the ice.
"It's pretty crazy," Bedard said. "I'm super grateful for the NHL doing this it's incredible for me and the other three prospects to come and see a couple of pretty good players on this panel… and Biz is here too."
The response got a laugh from Gretzky, future Hall-of-Fame goalie Henrik Lundqvist, Bissonnette, Anson Carter and McHugh.
Bissonnette had seven goals, 15 assists and 340 penalty minutes in 202 games over six NHL seasons. His numbers as an irreverent social media commentator are stronger.
Later in the show, Bedard told the crew a story about receiving a phone call from Gretzky and thinking it was a prank.
