Colorado has put the three losses in four days behind and looks ahead to a five-game homestand starting against the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night.

The phrase "there's no place like home" rings true for the Colorado Avalanche who suffered three losses on the road — including a shootout loss to the Anaheim Ducks three days ago and play again on Tuesday night.

"These first couple months have been hard, especially being on the road a lot to start," Avalanche forward Ross Colton told The Hockey News' Colleen Flynn after morning skate. "Not obviously the results we wanted on the road trip but I feel like we always have better energy at home. We kind of feed off the fans, especially in the first period — we're definitely looking forward to that."

Colton was fined for a "dangerous trip" to Ducks forward Leo Carlsson so the team will need to be more disciplined this go around. On the other hand, there's also an advantage to playing the same team in such a short time proximity.

"It's easier when you play guys inside one week twice, we remember a little bit," Mikko Rantanen said. "Coaches can give you certain things and we can watch our own video and pre-scout what we could do better and what we did well in Anaheim. ... There's of course room to improve — we just got to have a solid 60, that's how we got to end this streak."

The Avs didn't practice on Monday in which the players and coaches most likely took time to rest and reset physically and mentally.

"Our goal is to go out and play our best game and where now we got a little bit of rest — come home and have a real good outing tonight and win the hockey game," Bednar said.

This is the final matchup between the teams this season and Cale Makar is "doubtful" to play

The Avalanche remain at Ball Arena for the next four games before hitting the road again.
