The Avs' newest forward was born in Sweden but grew up in the Denver area playing in the Colorado Thunderbirds program.

Fredrik Olofsson signed a one-year contract with the Colorado Avalanche after the team acquired him from the Dallas Stars for future considerations.

The 27-year-old left-wing split the 2022-23 season between Dallas and their American Hockey League affiliate, the Texas Stars. Olofsson notched four points in his first 28 NHL games and also played in two Stanley Cup Playoff games for Dallas.

In his 37 AHL games with Texas, the 6-foot, 2-inch, 190-pound forward scored five goals and earned nine assists.

Olofsson spent three years playing in Sweden where he earned 76 points in 100 contests before joining the Stars. His last two years were in the Swedish Hockey League for Oskarshamn.

The Helsingborg, Sweden native was selected 98th overall in the fourth round of the 2014 NHL Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks. He made his pro debut with the Blackhawks’ AHL affiliate Rockford Icehogs at the end of the 2018-19 season.

Olofsson played with Team Sweden in the 2022 Winter Olympics in Bejing, China where he earned one assist in six games.

Olofsson was born in Sweden but grew up in the Denver area playing minor hockey for the Colorado Thunderbirds program.

His early playing days were with the United States Hockey League from 2013-15. He recorded 81 points (33g/48a) in 117 career contests with the Green Bay Gamblers and Chicago Steel. He then moved on to the University of Nebraska-Omaha in 2015, where he played four seasons. There, he scored 35 goals and 60 assists in 137 NCAA outings.
