Bowen Byram to miss 'handful of games' for Avalanche
Avalanche defenseman Bowen Byram left the game with a lower-body injury against the Dallas Stars on Thursday night and didn't play in the matchup versus the Florida Panthers.
"He'll be out tomorrow, he's still getting evaluated," head coach Jared Bednar said after Friday's optional practice. "So I don't have a timeline yet on him."
Caleb Jones slotted in to fill the lineup spot and paired with Jack Johnson in the 8-4 loss to the Cats.
"He's going to miss a handful of games here. He's lower body, not serious at this point so seven to 10 to 14 days someplace in there," Bednar said. "We put him on the IR (injured reserve) today so he's going to miss at least seven."
The bright side of Byram being out is that it wasn't an upper body injury as the 22-year-old has suffered multiple concussions in his young career.
He has earned 12 points in 39 games and has averaged more than 20 minutes per game.
