It's been six years since the Avalanche began the regular season on the road, which they will do on Oct. 11, 2023.

The Colorado Avalanche will open the season away against the Los Angeles Kings on Oct. 11 and face off against the Central Division rival Chicago Blackhawks for the home opener on Oct. 19.

The Avs have opened the season on the road only five times in the last 20 years and this is the first time in six years.

Colorado is scheduled to face division rivals 26 times, evenly split home and away. Here’s how that breaks down:

  • Arizona Coyotes, Chicago, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues: four times each (two home/away)
  • Nashville Predators: three times (one home/two away)
  • Winnipeg Jets: three times (two home/one away)

The Avalanche are slated to play eight back-to-backs and will have a long absence from the Mile High City in February following the All-Star Break. The team’s longest time at home will be five games from Dec. 5-13 and March 22-30.
