Colorado is on the second half of a back-to-back after falling 6-2 to the Winnipeg Jets on the road. The Avalanche face off against the San Jose Sharks back at Ball Arena where they won their last two.

Nathan MacKinnon looks to continue his point streak as he's scored at least a point in the last 14 consecutive games. His career-high is 15 so he would tie that with a point against the Sharks. He's tied for second in points in the NHL with 43 and second for assists with 31.

Cale Makar was a late scratch due to a lower-body injury on Saturday night. There was no morning skate so it is unknown whether he'll play against Sunday.

The Avs beat the Sharks in a shootout at the SAP Center 2-1 in their second game of the season on Oct. 14. Makar tied the game at one with 1:26 remaining in the third period to force the game to overtime. Mikko Rantanen was the only shooter who found the back of the net to earn the win.

Alexandar Georgiev is expected to start between the pipes as Ivan Prosvetov has started the last two games.

Georgiev said he watched his play from his last game — he allowed five goals in two periods — and worked on what he needed to improve.

"Try to check the goals, check the saves, and see what happened. Get to a conclusion why that happened and kind of work on whatever I feel like working and move on," Georgiev said. "Then watch the game from the side view and see the structure from that point. Have good practices and kind of focus on my own thing."

    Projected lineup

Since there was no morning skate, the NHL has the projected lineup the same as the Jets matchup the previous night with the exception of goaltender.

Valeri Nichushkin — Nathan MacKinnon — Mikko Rantanen
Jonathan Drouin — Ryan Johansen — Ben Meyers
Miles Wood — Ross Colton — Logan O’Connor
Andrew Cogliano — Fredrik Olofsson — Joel Kiviranta

    Devon Toews — Josh Manson
    Bowen Byram — Sam Malinksi
    Caleb Jones — Jack Johnson

    Alexandar Georgiev
    Ivan Prosvetov

Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m. MT at Ball Arena.
