Avalanche forward Casey Mittelstadt played a significant part in the victory, scoring the eventual game-winning goal early in the third period. Veteran winger Zach Parise deflected the puck out of the air to Mittelstadt, and the young forward put it home. Mittelstadt scoring the game-winning goal in a must-win contest is already excellent enough, but that is just the tip of the iceberg. Mittelstadt is a Minnesota native who idolized Parise when he was growing up. Now, the 2017 first-round pick scored a crucial goal with the help of his childhood hero. That is simply a magnificent moment. Mittelstadt and Parise were two additions made by the Avalanche during the season, and it's fair to say they are benefitting the club during the postseason. Mittelstadt has been impactful offensively, posting three goals and nine points in 10 games.
