HC Pascal Vincent Gives Update On Patrik Laine

Andersson will miss 4 games, Laine will miss more than that

Columbus head coach Pascal Vincent gave an update on injured forward Patrik Laine today after practice.

He told the media that Laine is improving every day and that “He’s more week-to-week.” This is not news that the Jackets, nor the fans want to hear. It's officially described as an upper-body injury.

Laine was hit in the dying seconds by the Calgary Flames Rasmus Andersson on Friday, October 20th. Laine would lay on the ice for a minute or two in obvious discomfort while his teammates defended him.

The Jackets need scoring, particularly from their stars like Laine. Unfortunately for him, he can't help while he's on the shelf, so it'll be up to everyone else. History shows that when Patrik comes back from injury, he typically gets hot. The Jackets need that history to repeat itself.

Laine also seems to always come back from injury quicker than normal, that would be a good thing. But in this case, if he does have a concussion, he needs to take his time and make sure he's right before he decides to come back. His long-term health is more important.

The Jackets play the Flames again on January 25th, in Calgary, that should be an interesting game.
