Last night, the Columbus Blue Jackets faced off against the Buffalo Sabres, ultimately falling 3-2. However, one of those two goals might just be a Goal of the Year candidate.
Kent Johnson pulled off an absolutely ridiculous spin-o-rama goal that will be on highlight reels for years to come.
As Johnson worked his way down the left side of the ice with Bowen Byram in pursuit, he crossed the blue line and executed an incredible spin-o-rama, seamlessly lifting a backhand shot over the Sabres' goaltender.
Johnson said about his goal, "Whoever the D-man was matched my speed pretty good. I was thinking I would drive to the net, but I thought he was probably gonna get me closed off. I just know that I can spin there and it's really tough for the D-man. Luckily I kind of had the perfect shot there."
It was easily one of the nicest goals in recent years and should be a strong contender for Goal of the Year.
What's Next: The Blue Jackets are home on Thursday and will welcome the Utah Hockey Club in NWA.
