Gavin Brindley is a small, bulldog type center
The Columbus Blue Jackets have selected University of Michigan center Gavin Brindley, out of Estero, Fla.
The 5-foot-8 165-pound center played with #3 overall pick Adam Fantilli, scoring 12 goals and 38 points in 41 games last season. THN had projected Brindley to be picked 23rd, so this could be considered a steal for GM Jarmo Kekalainen.
Scouts love his game, and other than his height, there’s very little that they have complained about. He’s been compared to Travis Konecky and Brian Gionta, not bad comparisons by any means.
Michigan is quickly becoming a pipeline for the Blue Jackets, already having Zach Werenski and Nick Blankeburg, and now they add Adam Fantilli and Gavin Brindley. Not a bad haul for the Blue Jackets.
With the addition of Fantilli and Brindley, the CBJ have double digit players who can play center. Will Jarmo trade any of them for picks during the draft or when free agency opens?
