The 30-year-old will continue his tenure with the Jackets

The Blue Jackets made the excellent decision to extend Justin Danforth today.

The Jackets signed Danforth to a 1-year extension, for $1.1 million which kicks in next season. Danforth, who has only played in 51 career NHL games has quickly become a fan favorite. Despite missing 76 games last season due to a shoulder injury, the team and fans were eagerly awaiting his return.

Danforth's journey to the NHL is a wild one. From playing college hockey at Sacred Heart, the ECHL, AHL, KHL, Liiga, and finally in the NHL, being signed by the CBJ in May of 2021. His path to the NHL is something that people can admire.

Justin Danforth deserves this contract extension, and not because of his difficult path to the league, but because he's earned it.
