It was announced earlier today that Blue Jackets Star Patrik Laine entered the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program.

Yesterday the team said he was being sent home from the CBJ road trip due to a "setback" in his recovery. This left fans and people wondering what was happening.

Laine released a statement via his Instagram late Sunday afternoon.

Laine says, "I have recognized the importance of prioritizing my mental health and well-being." He also said, "I have come to realize that in order to perform my best, I need to take this time to focus on myself."

GM Jarmo Kekalainen said in a press release "Patrik has our complete support, and our sole concern is his well-being,” Kekalainen also said, “Out of respect for Patrik, we will have no further comment.”
