The NHL Makes It Official - Blue Jackets Will Host A Stadium Series Game At Ohio Stadium

At tonight's Stadium Series game in New Jersey, Commissioner Gary Bettman announced that Columbus will host their own Stadium Series game against the Detroit Red Wings in March of 2025. This will be the Blue Jackets' first outdoor game since the league started making them an annual event back in 2003.

Blue Jacket fans have been waiting two decades for a chance to play in one of these events, and it's finally happening "at home". Historic Ohio Stadium is the perfect venue and the NHL should have no problem selling this game out. If you've never had a chance to go to an event at Ohio Stadium for either football or anything else, you're going to want to check this out.

The first weekend in March is usually the weekend that the Arnold Sports Festival is held every year at the Greater Columbus Convention Center, just around the corner from Nationwide Arena. According to arnoldsports.com, "The Arnold" is expected to bring in 100,000 visitors who are expected to spend $15.6 million in the Columbus region. The event also brings in 12,000 athletes from 80+ countries from around the world.

Couple The Arnold with a Stadium Series game that should fill Ohio Stadium with visitors from Ohio, Michigan, and neighboring states, and this weekend should be huge for Columbus. The Columbus Crew of the MLS usually starts their season the week before March 1st as well, so this could add even more excitement to an already busy weekend for the city if they have a home game on that Saturday. The Ohio State Men's and Women's Basketball teams are usually wrapping up their regular seasons that weekend as well. Columbus could be in sports overload.

The NHL is finally giving Columbus its chance to be showcased to North America and beyond. Show up and show out Columbus!
