The 6th overall pick in the 2022 draft looks to make the Blue Jackets in 2023 and make a huge contribution.
CBJ defensive prospect David Jiricek was selected to the AHL's Top Prospects Team. A big honor for the 19 year old Czech, and could be the sign of many good things to come.
Jiricek played in 55 games for the AHL's Cleveland Monsters last season, coming in with 38 points, scoring 6 goals. David led all AHL rookies with 20 power-play assists. He also played in four games with the Blue Jackets.
On the international stage, Jiricek won a silver medal with Czechia at the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship and was named the tournament's top defenseman, he had seven points, scoring 3 goals in seven games.
The future is bright for this young defenseman, and the CBJ are lucky to have him. He will most likely make the opening night roster for the Blue Jackets. And one thing is for certain, the team, and the fans, can't wait to see him play.
