Olivier has been nothing short of outstanding this season for the Blue Jackets. In 44 games, he has tallied 10 goals and seven assists for 17 points. He is also widely regarded as the toughest fighter in the NHL, pound for pound. So far this season, Olivier has been involved in 10 fights, including two in one game against the Boston Bruins. If Olivier were to hit the open market, there would likely be significant interest from more than a dozen teams eager to acquire his services. Waddell recognizes his value and is determined to keep him in Columbus for the foreseeable future. He’s having a career year, scoring goals. But as you said, he makes our team better because of what he brings to the table. He’s an important piece that we’re hoping to get locked up for a long period of time." The Blue Jackets would benefit immensely from keeping Olivier as a key part of their lineup while their young core develops.
