A Dallas Stars forward is not getting much recognition as he is on his way to passing all of his previous career numbers.

After a less than stellar first year with the team, Stars forward Mason Marchment has seemed to find his groove in his second year. Last season, Marchment was mostly paired with Tyler Seguin and what seemed to be a carousel of a third linemate until the Stars acquired Max Domi at the trade deadline.
This season, Dallas picked up Matt Duchene during the off-season and paired him with Marchment and Seguin. Adding Duchene to this line has seemingly brought exactly what this line was really missing, and because of this, the whole line is flourishing.
Marchment finished last season with 12 goals, 19 assists, and 31 points in 68 games played. He has already passed his last season's goal total, scoring his 13th this season when he scored a hat trick against the Chicago Blackhawks.
Due to the change of linemates and his role on this year's Stars team, Marchment appears to have really leaned more into his offensive game. In the 2021-22 season during his time with the Florida Panthers, he finished the season with 18 goals, 29 assists and 47 points, all career highs. He threw 114 hits that year and even found himself getting some Selke votes.
Last season while trying to work through unstable linemates and a new system, Marchment still played the physical role, throwing 88 hits, but was not as effective offensively as he and the Stars would have liked.
This season he is only on pace to throw 62 hits, but he did not lose his pesky style. Marchment is notorious for having words and getting under his opponents skin, resulting in him drawing the most penalties on the team. He currently has drawn 32 penalty minutes while the next closest Star has only drawn 22.
This is sometimes a double-edged sword when Marchment finds himself in the penalty box, which happened much more frequently at the beginning of the season. Realizing that he needed to be on the ice and focus on offense, he has since toned it down and Tuesday against the Habs, he committed a penalty after 19 games without doing so.
Not only has he cleaned up his game, but has elevated his ability to put the puck in the net, and has also improved on his play-making abilities. His ability to pass through traffic and right to on his teammate's stick has really stood out. He seems inspired by the quality of passes that Duchene can put together.
Marchment probably won't get talked about the way he should for his turnaround from last year and his performance this year. Currently he is tied for third in goals on the team and is second in the NHL in points by an undrafted player.
He has had eight points in his last three games and doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon.
