The Colorado Avalanche are reportedly finalizing a deal to acquire center Nazem Kadri from the Calgary Flames. The return heading to Calgary has not yet been revealed as the trade is still being completed.

Kadri, 35, would return to Colorado where he previously played a key role during the Avalanche’s Stanley Cup run in 2022. This season with Calgary, the veteran center has recorded 18 goals and 27 assists for 45 points in 61 games, continuing to produce as a top-six forward.

The London, Ontario native brings experience, scoring ability, and a physical edge down the middle. Kadri originally joined Colorado in 2019 and quickly became an important piece of the club’s core before later signing with Calgary in free agency.

The potential move strengthens the Avalanche and could make things hairy for the Dallas Stars. If both teams advance through the first round of the playoffs, Dallas and Colorado could meet in a highly anticipated second-round matchup.

Adding Kadri would give the Avalanche another proven playoff performer and offensive contributor, further deepening a roster that is already considered one of the strongest in the NHL.
