According to Kevin Kurz of The Athletic, the Dallas Stars are one of the teams to keep an eye on in potential trade talks for defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen as the NHL trade deadline approaches.

Kurz noted that the Stars may still be seeking a right‑handed defenseman after missing out on Rasmus Andersson, who was dealt earlier in the season.

Ristolainen, a 31‑year‑old right‑shot defenseman with the Philadelphia Flyers, has become one of the more talked‑about blueliners in the rumor mill. He is signed through the 2026‑27 season with a $5.1 million cap hit, and he carries no trade protection, which would allow him to be moved without needing to waive a clause. His size and physical game have drawn interest across the league.

This season, Ristolainen has appeared in 21 games for the Flyers, recording one goal and five assists for six points, along with 28 blocked shots and 21 hits. While his offensive totals are modest, his defensive presence and previous Olympic performance with Team Finland, where he posted three assists and a +9 rating, have helped boost his attractiveness as a deadline target.

The Stars have a strong core on the back end led by players like Miro Heiskanen and Thomas Harley, but adding a right‑shot defenseman like Ristolainen could help balance Dallas’ defensive pairings and increase depth for a playoff push. Interest reported from multiple teams, including Dallas, underscores just how tight the market for right‑handed defenders has become this year.

Stars fans, with the trade deadline looming, how do you feel about Dallas targeting a right‑handed defenseman like Ristolainen? Would you like to see him in green and gold, or would you rather the team focus on internal options and other priorities as March 6 approaches?
