Happy birthday to former Dallas Stars forwards Jake Dowell and Val Nichushkin. Jake Dowell, born March 4, 1985, played one season with the Stars in 2011-12, appearing in 52 games.

He recorded 2 goals and 5 assists for 7 points while adding 22 penalty minutes and 38 shots on goal. Dowell was known for his gritty two-way play and provided energy and depth in the bottom-six forward group.

Val Nichushkin, born March 4, 1995, spent six seasons in Dallas from 2013 to 2019, playing 223 games. He totaled 23 goals and 51 assists for 74 points, along with 101 penalty minutes and 207 shots on goal.

Nichushkin was valued for his speed and versatility on both wings. His best season with the Stars came in 2015-16 when he scored 13 goals and added 19 assists in 70 games.
