Mavrik Bourque delivered a breakout performance on Monday night, recording his first career NHL hat trick to lead the Dallas Stars to a 6–5 comeback win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

It was a defining moment in a rapidly developing NHL career, as he also added an assist for a four-point night and scored the game-winning goal late in the third period.

Bourque, a 22-year-old center from Plessisville, Quebec, was selected 30th overall by the Dallas Stars in the 2020 NHL Draft and has steadily climbed the organization’s system since turning pro in 2021.

In the AHL with the Texas Stars, Bourque continued his development and broke out in the 2023–24 season with 26 goals and 51 assists for 77 points in 71 games, earning a major step toward full-time NHL duties.

At the NHL level, Bourque has grown into a regular contributor with Dallas over his first full seasons, producing steady secondary scoring while adapting to a depth role in a strong Stars lineup. This season, he has 19 goals and 21 assists for a very solid 40-point campaign. Monday’s hat trick was the clearest sign yet of that progression translating at the highest level.
