Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports - Jake Oettinger favorite to win Vezina Trophy, according to THN poll

Site editors from The Hockey News believe Jake Oettinger will capture the Vezina Trophy this season as the NHL’s most outstanding goaltender.

Oettinger received nine of 34 votes in the publication's annual preseason poll, which explored everything from potential award winners to breakout season candidates and a lot more.

Oettinger compiled a 37-11-11 record in 62 appearances last year, along with a 2.35 goals-against average, a .919 save percentage and five shutouts, before backstopping the Stars to the Western Conference Final.

The 24-year-old finished fifth in Vezina Trophy voting in 2022-23.

Colorado’s Cale Makar, who was named the League’s most outstanding blueliner in 2022, is the clear front-runner to claim the coveted award again with 18 votes.

Heiskanen, 24, finished seventh in Norris Trophy voting in 2022-23.
