Beginning on Friday, forward Jason Robertson and his brother, Nick, will be hosting a two-day hockey clinic for military kids aged 7-18 at Cleland Ice Arena on Fort Liberty. Nick is a forward for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

According to a press release issued by the United Heroes League (UHL) on August 2, Jason “is incredibly active in the military community through his JR’s Heroes initiative” in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

Back in March, NHL.com Independent Correspondent Taylor Baird wrote about Jason’s efforts to give back to military families.

The Robertson brothers will be joined on-site in North Carolina by their skills coach Tommy Mannino, who has worked with them for over 12 years.

“I am so deeply honored that Jason and Nick are able to take the time during the off-season to help lift the spirits of these incredible military kids,” said United Heroes League President and Founder Shane Hudella. “It really shows their deep commitment to our military heroes and their families. Ft. Liberty is home to some of our nation’s greatest warriors, so these kids are constantly dealing with deployments, injury, and sometimes the loss of a parent. This will be a very welcome break from the challenges of being a military child.”

Fort Liberty is one of the world’s largest military installations by population and home to the 3rd Special Forces Group, the U.S. Army’s Special Operations Command, 82nd Airborne Division, XVIII Airborne Division, FORSCOM, and many other Active-Duty units.

The UHL is a 501(c)(3) national non-profit based in Hastings, MN. The charity assists families of all branches of the military by providing free sports equipment, free youth camps, financial grants to pay sports fees, special experiences, and pro sports tickets so the entire family can enjoy a night out at the game.
