Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports - Matt Murray Recalled from Texas, Wedgewood day-to-day

The Dallas Stars have recalled goaltender Matt Murray from the Texas Stars after it was announced Scott Wedgewood is "day to day" with an injury he suffered in the second period of Saturday's game in Chicago.

Murray was just sent back down Friday after being called up to back up Wedgewood while Jake Oettinger was injured.

During the twelve games Oettinger was out, Murray got one start against the Minnesota Wild and recorded his first NHL shutout.

Wedgewood played the other eleven games and went 6-3-2. Then, Wedgewood looked uncomfortable after a save against the Blackhawks during Saturday night's game. He stayed in net several more minutes before skating to the bench and removing himself just under halfway through the game.

The timing of this injury has coaching staff a little more cautious, as they wanted to ease Oettinger back into the lineup after missing four weeks of action.

The Stars play the Los Angeles Kings tonight at home, where Oettinger will get the start at Murray will back him up.

Looking past that, Dallas has a game in Philadelphia Thursday before a back-to-back situation on the road this Saturday and Sunday. After that, games come every other day until the Stars have time off for the All Star break, which Oettinger was selected to head to Toronto for to represent the team.

If Wedgewood can't return before that break, Matt Murray will most likely have to spell Oettinger at some point if the coaches truly do want to ease him back after injury. Murray looked comfortable and like he has improved significantly from his stretch of NHL action last season, so the coaches should feel more confident in giving him whatever action they deem necessary.
