Making moves: Late last week, the Stars announced a host of additions and promotions in their hockey operations department.

As was previously reported in early July, former goaltender Ben Bishop was officially appointed as the club’s player development coordinator.

Stars senior staff writer Mike Heika explained in a July 17 story on the team’s official website that Bishop “will travel to visit players in the AHL, as well as prospects in junior hockey and college hockey” and “communicate with the players and help them progress with their respective teams.”

General manager Jim Nill is adamant that Bishop’s 11 years of NHL experience between St. Louis, Ottawa, Tampa Bay, Los Angeles and Dallas, makes him the right man for the all-important position.

"He's got a great presence to himself, he's got the resume to back it up, and he's got a passion to do this," Nill explained in Heika’s article. "He loves it. To have that person representing us is a big thing."

Patrick Dolan was also promoted to head video coach, Chris Demczuk joined the team as assistant video coach, Dennis Soetaert was promoted to head equipment manager, while Nick Lazor joined the squad as assistant equipment manager.

Welcome aboard, Coach: On Monday, the Stars made headlines again by appointing Misha Donskov as assistant coach.

Donskov spent the previous seven seasons as a member of the Golden Knights where he served as director of hockey operations for three seasons and assistant coach for the last four, helping Vegas win the Stanley Cup earlier this summer.

The 46-year-old brings a wealth of experience to head coach Pete DeBoer’s staff, including coaching stints with Hockey Canada’s Men’s National Team and the OHL’s Ottawa 67’s and London Knights, as well as a variety of roles with the Columbus Blue Jackets and Atlanta Thrashers.
