Dallas has yet to surrender a power play goal this season.

DALLAS - The Stars are the only team in the NHL that still boasts a perfect penalty kill.

Through five games, the opposition has gone a combined 0-for-15 on the power play against head coach Pete DeBoer's contingent.

Dallas ranked third in short-handed situations last season with an 83.5 percent success rate, so DeBoer is pleased to see things trending in the same direction.

"We’ve got a really good penalty kill... We picked up this year right where we left off, and we lost some pretty good pieces, but your goaltender is always your best penalty-killer," said DeBoer, referencing the outstanding play of Jake Oettinger. "I thought they created two or three really good looks against our penalty kill, some point-blankers that our goalie was just there."

For his part, Oettinger was particularly impressed by the effort of the players in front of him while short-handed on Tuesday night in Pittsburgh.

"The PK was awesome. I was pretty surprised to hear that they haven’t done well [on the power play] because they were snapping it around pretty good. It just takes those blocks and those sticks, and it feels like every PK we had, that’s kind of the breaking point, whether you can break up that last pass or get a block, and we did that pretty much all night," said Oettinger. "Our PK has been unreal. We’re going to have to kill a lot of penalties this year and we’ve been one of the best in the League at it."
