It's Boxing Day, which can only mean one thing: the World Junior Championship is here. Luckily for Detroit Red Wings fans, several prospects are participating in this year's tournament.

Sweden will kick off the tournament against Slovakia at Noon Eastern Time. Red Wings fans will be able to catch their prized defense prospect, Axel Sandin-Pelikka, the captain of the Swedish team.

Team USA will play their first game against Germany today. USA is entering the competition looking to win back-to-back gold medals.

Trey Augustine and Max Plante will represent the Red Wings for Team USA. Because Team USA did not practice on Christmas Day, here are the line combinations for their last pre-tournament game against Finland.

Augustine will most likely be Team USA's starting goalie; meanwhile, Plante could be in and out of the lineup for the entire tournament.

The Red Wings goalie prospect played two out of three periods for their last pre-tournament bout, stopping 10 out of the 11 shots he faced. This season, the 2023 second-round draft pick is on a tear in the NCAA. He's currently sporting an 11-2-1 record with a 1.98 goals against average, an .930 save percentage, and two shutouts for Michigan State University.

The game will start at 2:30 PM Eastern Time and will be broadcast on the NHL Network.

    Let the festivities begin.
