Former Detroit Red Wings forward Robby Fabbri, who has battled more than his share of injuries throughout his career, now faces another setback.
The St. Louis Blues announced that Fabbri has been placed on waivers, and if he clears, he will be assigned to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds.
After narrowly missing out on a roster spot while on a professional tryout with the Pittsburgh Penguins this past fall, Fabbri rejoined the Blues on a one-year, two-way contract, bringing his career full circle.
It was St. Louis that originally selected Fabbri in the first round (14th overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft, and he later won the Stanley Cup with the club in 2019. He was traded to Detroit in November 2019 and remained with the Red Wings through 2024, when he was dealt to the Anaheim Ducks.
Over the course of his career, Fabbri has torn his ACL three times (twice in the same knee) and also underwent meniscus surgery last season while with Anaheim.
