Every year on March 13, Detroit celebrates 313 Day, a tribute to the city’s iconic 313 area code and the pride, culture, and history that defines the Motor City.

The day has grown into a citywide celebration of Detroit’s influence in music, sports, business, and community, with residents and fans proudly representing everything that makes Detroit unique.

For fans of the Detroit Red Wings, 313 Day celebrates the city as well as some of the best aspects of the city including one of the most historic franchises in the National Hockey League and in all of sports.

Since 1926, the Red Wings have won 11 Stanley Cups, the most by any American NHL team, led by legendary players such as Gordie Howe, Steve Yzerman, and Nicklas Lidström who helped build Detroit’s reputation as “Hockeytown.”

From the unforgettable atmosphere of Joe Louis Arena to the modern era at Little Caesars Arena, the Red Wings have long been part of Detroit’s identity. On 313 Day, fans celebrate not just the city, but the team that has brought generations of Detroiters together through hockey.
