Beloved longtime Detroit Red Wings broadcaster Mickey Redmond, who played the bulk of his NHL playing career in Detroit, is celebrating his 78th birthday today.

Redmond, who started his NHL career with the Montreal Canadiens, would become the first player in Red Wings history to score 50 goals in a single season, and he's been behind the microphone as a color commentator on broadcasts for several decades.

He's an institution to multiple generations of Red Wings fans, and we wish him the best on his special day!
