The would-be momentum for the Detroit Red Wings during Friday evening's game against the Anaheim Ducks was halted in controversial fashion.

Defenseman Moritz Seider appeared to have knotted the score at 2-2, but his tally was disallowed following a video review in which the officials determined that he made a distinct kicking motion with his skate, which automatically negates a goal.

However, replays didn't appear to show a clear kicking motion. While Seider did redirect his skate, that's considered a legal play.

The breaks didn't go Detroit's way against the Ducks, as just seconds after Seider's goal was disallowed, the Ducks scored what would ultimately stand up as the game-winner to pad their lead to 3-1.

Was this the correct call by the officials?
